About Me

Dreams come every night to lead us to wholeness.  Instead of using words, dreams speak in images and feelings.  We can get lost when we try to analyze dreams with our heads when what they speak to is our hearts.

Katherine R. Bell (Santa Cruz, California) is a dreamwork practitioner and founder of Experiential Dreamwork. She is a member of the IASD Ethics Committee and is conference planning team co-chair. She has facilitated Dream Groups for over 30 years and has been a Dream Coach for 15. She favors a non-interpretive embodied approach to dreaming and is available for a free consultation for anyone who would like to explore a dream with her.

Katherine is the host of the podcast The Dream Journal, a weekly hourlong show featuring interviews with dream experts to spread information about the power of our nightly dreams.  Guests have included Robert Hoss, Toko Pa Turner, Robert Moss, Robert Wagonner, Theresa Cheung, Linda Schiller, Kelly Sullivan Waldon, Chris Price, Geoff Nelson, Bill St. Cyr, Sue Scavo, Eva Rider, and Gregg Levoy. Starting in 2019, as of Fall 2025 there are 330 episodes.

She is also host and creator of the Festival of Dreams Santa Cruz: a recurring event offering workshops and presentations in celebration of all things Dream. This prestigious Festival has included presentations by such inspirational thinkers as Apela Colorado, Gayle Delaney, Robert Hoss, Kathleen Sullivan, and David Jay Brown. The 2025 Festival was the fourth event and spanned three days with offerings by 26 presenters and featured a pop-up art show and a Dream Ball. It was co-hosted with Linda Mastrangelo and co-sponsored by the IASD as a CA Regional Event at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.

Katherine has studied extensively with Bill St. Cyr and Sue Scavo (Embodied Dreamwork), Chris Price (Gestalt Awareness Practice), Rodger Kamenetz (Natural Dreamwork) and Marc Bregman and Christa Lancaster (Archetypal Dreamwork).  She has presented on the topic of dreams in every IASD conference since 2017, in all of the Festival of Dreams events, at the international conference for Science and NonDuality in 2019 and at numerous smaller local events.

Katherine is also a trained astrophysicist with an MA from Williams College and MS and PhD from UC Santa Cruz.  She worked for NASA for 11 years as a Space Scientist.
