About Me


Dr. Alwin E. Wagener, is the Director of a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and Assistant Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. His primary research focus is on dreams and dreamwork, and he created a theory of dreams, The Embodied Cognition Theory of Dreams, as well as a dreamwork approach, Culturally Responsive Dreamwork, that is congruent with centering clients beliefs, rather than psychological theory, in the dreamwork process. He has presented at numerous Counseling and IASD conferences on the topics of dreams and dreamwork and publishes on those topics in refereed journals. Additionally, he is a licensed professional counselor in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and finds dreamwork with clients to be valuable in supporting growth and healing. He welcomes communication related to dreamwork and dream research.
